Toyota’s Fuel Of The Future!
Well, the car we are talking about is the Toyota Mirai, a hydrogen-powered car. Nitin Gadkari has been quite supportive when it comes to alternative fuels for cars, and he likes the idea of a Hydrogen-powered car. Toyota is one of the most innovative car manufacturers in the world, also popular for making reliable, robust and dependable cars. This Japanese brand thinks that there is another fuel that could replace diesel and be the fuel of the future. And it is none other than Hydrogen. Toyota has successfully created a Hydrogen fuel-cell car, the Mirai, and launched it back in 2014. Many other brands, including Hyundai, have also been working on hydrogen-powered cars, as they emit no emissions.

As a brand that has been working on hydrogen fuel for the past 30 years, Toyota believes that this fuel can easily replace diesel in the future. While speaking to CarExpert Australia, the vice president of sales of Toyota Australia mentioned that hydrogen-powered cars are yet to be perfected and will come into the picture much later in the future, while diesel cars still have almost a decade. The Toyota Mirai is a hydrogen-powered car and is capable of running on the streets even today. However, the hydrogen refuelling infrastructure is yet to be well-established.
Toyota Hydrogen – What Else?
Similar to the Toyota Mirai, Hyundai has also come up with its own hydrogen fuel cell EV, the Nexo. The Hyundai Nexo was first showcased at the Seoul Mobility Expo 2025. Many other manufacturers are working on greener and cleaner vehicles that could replace the use of diesel cars. While EVs have seen increasing demand, hydrogen fuel cell cars could also interest more buyers once the right infrastructure has been established.
