Should Government Ban India’s Favourite Feature?

Gone those days when car engines used to be the crowd puller, now the place has been taken by tech & features offered in cars. Carmakers often offer several features that include sunroof, autopark, ADAS, ventilated & massage seats and others to attract buyers. Some features do really offer convenience, while some others are just creating mess. Today we will talk about one certain car feature that is the reason behind many road offences. Worst Car Feature – Which Is It?

Many of you would have already guessed it, Yes! It is the sunroof. Earlier, it used to be a luxury feature, now it is available in even some cheapest priced cars. It is included in cars just to add some light in the cabin, for ventilation too. But, it seems people are often seen misusing it. We have already seen many heads pop out during our trips, also many people lacking basic sense exit out of the sunroof and sit on the car’s roof! All these instances are dangerous not only for themselves but also those who are driving alongside. 

Imagine travelling on an expressway and there’s a car above you and you see some people getting out of the sunroof, even coming onto the roof of an open car. Now, if the car applies sudden breaks they might lose their balance, which will lead them to fall from the roof to the road. The fall can mostly also be above your car, leading you to turn your vehicle in another lane. This can prove to be dangerous for both you and for the people in front of you. Many laws have been defined to punish such offenders that stick out of the sunroof on roads.

Automakers have already started to provide a new fixed glass roof, in which the roof of a car is made up of glass. The glass roof doesn’t open up, but lets in the amount of light needed inside a cabin. That said, it can be a very good alternative for sunroofs in the near future. 

Should Carmakers Remove Sunroof?

Currently, maximum cars offer the feature of sunroof, being one of the most demanded features. However, as some Indians lack basic civic sense of how to use any typical features that are installed in the car. Just to address this and to stop any offences or injuries happening further, carmakers should offer another alternative for this feature, or not offer such feature.
