Toyota has recently revealed that it has recorded a sales milestone of 3 lakh units for its Fortuner SUV. The Fortuner and the Fortuner Legender have collectively achieved this record. The popularity of this SUV is unmatched, even after being sold at a much higher premium price tag, and it is outdated in terms of feature upgrades over time. Moreover, Fortuners has consistently beaten its competitors in the market by recording higher sales every month.

Why Is This SUV So Popular?

Currently, the Toyota Fortuner is being sold between Rs 39.09 lakh and Rs 57.12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), while the Legender is priced between Rs 48.60 lakh and Rs 52.93 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). That said, at such a high price, what has made this SUV so popular? Its bold and rugged design commands a formidable road presence, as well as its reliability and relatively low-cost maintenance have contributed to the success of this SUV in India. 

Talking about its interiors, the Fortuner offers some features like ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, rear AC vents, ambient lighting, cruise control, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment display, an 11-speaker JBL surround sound system, auto-dimming IRVMs, and more in its package. Safety features on the model include 7-airbags, ESC, hill start assist, rear parking camera, front and rear parking sensors.

Powertrain-wise, the model comes powered with a 2.8-litre diesel engine producing 201bhp and 500Nm of peak torque, also the Fortuner gets a 2.7-litre petrol engine capable of producing 164bhp and 245Nm. Transmission duties on the model include a Manual transmission and an AT gearbox option.
