For long, the Royal Enfield Himalayan has been the go-to mass-market adventure bike choice in the country. While we have the KTM Adventure 390, it has not been able to match the cult following of the Himalayan. But soon that is going to change as Hero MotoCorp is all set to launch the XPulse 400 in India. So, what can we expect to see on the Hero Xpulse 400?

Hero XPulse 400: Spy Shots

Born from rally racing, the upcoming Hero XPulse 400 has been spotted testing somewhere near Jaipur. Covered in camouflage, the new image reveals the red colour coming to the adventure bike. Upfront it gets a round headlamp with LED DRL and a tall windscreen. The tank is large giving the bike its bulky stance. Body panels extend below the large tank like on the KTM Adventure 390. The design tapers towards the rear and ends at a neatly designed LED taillamp.
The up-swept exhaust is covered by the panniers at this time. The new XPulse is expected to be built around a new trellis frame to keep the overall weight to a minimum. The overall seating position looks relaxed with front set footpegs, single piece seat and a sculpted tank.

2 New Hero XPulse in the Making

Rumours suggest, two XPulse 400 models are under development. The first will be an Adventure scramble similar to the Xpulse 200. This model will get telescopic long travel suspension, large 21-inch spoked wheels up front and a beak to confirm its off-road character. The other model expected to be a sports tourer will feature more expensive upside-down forks, 17-inch alloy wheels and a new design LED headlight. This vehicle will focus on highway cruising and everyday usability.
Both models will get round digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity from the recently launched Mavrick 440.

Hero XPulse 400: Powertrain

The new XPulse 400 is expected to get the new 440cc oil-cooled engine from the Hero Mavrick 440. This engine is expected to produce 35-40 bhp of peak power and 40 Nm peak torque mated to a 6-speed transmission with slip & assist clutch.
Launch & Price

The upcoming Hero model has been undergoing testing for a long time. While the brand has not commented on the model, we expect the Hero XPulse 400 to launch by the end of 2024. Hero could price the new model aggressively starting from around Rs 2.3 lakh (ex-showroom).
Alongside this model, Hero could also update the regular XPulse with a larger 210 cc engine from the Karizma XMR.
