Tata Curvv launch

The launch of the Curvv has been delayed by a few months. Earlier, it was expected to be launched by mid-2024. The production of the EV version is expected to start in June, and launch is expected sometime around the festive season. What about the petrol/diesel variants? Their production is expected to start by September, and the launch could happen by the end of 2024 or early 2025. The launch has been delayed due to the election season and also as Tata wants to be fully ready with its production capabilities ahead of launch.

Tata Curvv launch – Design & features

Tata showcased the near-production model of the Curvv at the Bharat Mobility Show. The front though debuted on the Curvv has now become quite common as all newer Tata SUVs have the same look. In the side profile, we can see the coupe-SUV looks, making it unique compared to other SUVs. At the rear, we have connected tail lamps and a nice spoiler. In terms of features, expect things like dual-zone climate control, wireless charging pad, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof, head-up display and a lot more. The EV version could get EV-specific features like V2V and V2L charging.

As we know, the Curvv will come with petrol/diesel and EV versions. The EV variants could come with a 50kWh battery pack and a claimed range of over 500km. We have more clarity on the ICE variants, as Tata had revealed the diesel specifications. It will get Nexon’s 1.5-litre diesel engine that produces 113bhp & 260Nm of torque, mated with AMT and manual gearboxes. Petrol options could include 1.2-litre TGDi & 1.5-litre TGDi. Transmission options could include a manual and DCA gearbox. Later on, we could also CNG make its way onto the Curvv.

Tata Curvv launch – Pricing and rivals

The Curvv would target a large price range to attract buyers. We expect the EV variants to start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Whereas, the petrol/diesel could be priced somewhere between Rs 13 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Once launched, the Curvv EV will rival the upcoming Hyundai Creta EV, Maruti eVX and Citroen Basalt. The petrol/diesel variants will rival the C-SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara, Skoda Kushaq, etc.
