2 Off-Road SUVs Coming in Next 6 Months

The last few years have seen a lot of growth in the SUV space. Admittedly, a lot of these SUVs are just raised hatchbacks. Still, the crowd wanting serious off-roaders has also increased with the launch of Jimny and Thar. To increase the practicality of these cars, manufacturers are bringing longer versions. We are going to see 2 such upcoming off-road SUVs in the next 6 months. Let’s talk about them.

Mahindra Thar 5-door

The first car on the list is none other than the Thar 5-door. It is one of the most anticipated car launches this year. According to reports, we could see its launch by August 2024. From the spy images, the Thar 5-door is expected to get some noticeable changes compared to the 3-door model. We could see a new grille, circular LED DRLs, new alloy wheels and new bumpers. In the interiors, we expect more changes like a bigger touchscreen, sunroof, new centre armrest, sunroof, cup holders, etc. Specs-wise, we could see a 2.0-litre turbo petrol (200bhp/370Nm) and 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). Both engines should come with manual and automatic gearbox options. What about the price? The Thar 5-door could start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Upcoming SUVs – Force Gurkha 5-door

Joining the Thar 5-door is the Force Gurkha 5-door. The Gurkha 5-door has been spotted testing several times, and according to reports, it could be launched by mid-2024. From the spy shots, there seem to be no notable changes on the 5-door compared to the 3-door model. Some of the highlights include a rear-mounted spare wheel, snorkel, high wheel arches and halogen headlamps. Engine duties could be handled by the 2.6-litre Mercedes-sourced diesel engine capable of producing 91bhp and 250Nm of torque. Force only has a 5-speed manual gearbox, but it should look to give it an automatic gearbox option. We expect Force to launch the Gurkha 5-door in only one variant priced at Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
