Mahindra is going to have a blockbuster 2024 with several new products lined up. The brand has products like the XUV.e8 coming, but that is going to be an Rs 30 lakh product. If you are looking for something more affordable, don’t worry, Mahindra has you covered with these 4 upcoming SUVs under Rs 18 lakh. What are these cars? Let’s find out.
The XUV300 facelift is expected to be Mahindra’s first major launch in 2024. It has updated the XUV400, but it doesn’t get exterior changes. The exterior changes would come on the XUV300 facelift including C-shaped DRLs, connected tail lamps, LED headlamps and new bumpers. Interiors are expected to get a major revamp in this aspect with a new dashboard layout, a bigger infotainment system, and new HVAC controls and buttons. New features could include a panoramic sunroof, ADAS, ventilated seats and wireless charging. Specs-wise, it would continue with the current 1.2-litre turbo petrol, 1.2-litre TGDi petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. There are rumours that the AMT would be replaced by proper automatic cars. Pricing-wise, we can expect a hike of Rs 70k to 80k depending upon the variants. Currently, the pricing of XUV300 starts from Rs 9.39 lakh and goes to Rs 17.79 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Upcoming Mahindra SUVs – XUV300 EV
Recently Mahindra updated the XUV400, so why are we talking about the XUV300 EV again? Mahindra is looking to diversify its EV lineup with the XUV300 EV. In this, you won’t get the extra length offered by the XUV400 leading to lesser boot space. Mahindra plans to aggressively price it to compete against the Nexon EV and the newly launched Punch EV. To price it aggressively, the XUV300 EV will come with a smaller battery pack and miss out on some of the new features offered by the XUV300 facelift. The XUV300 facelift is expected to be launched by June 2023.
Another important launch for Mahindra is Thar 5-door. Mahindra has already confirmed that the SUV is coming in 2024 and wants to leave no stone unturned before its launch. It is rigorously testing the car in various parts of the country. Design-wise, the Thar 5-door could get a new front design compared to the 3-door version like a new grille, circular LED DRLs, new alloy wheels and new bumpers. In the interiors, we could see a bigger infotainment system, sunroof, new centre armrest, sunroof, cup holders etc. Under the hood, we could see the 2.0-litre turbo petrol (200bhp/370Nm) and 2.2-litre diesel engine (172bhp/370Nm). It should come with manual and automatic gearbox options. What about the price? The Thar 5-door could start from Rs 18 lakh and go to Rs 24 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Upcoming Mahindra SUVs – Bolero Neo Plus
The Bolero Neo Plus is another unique product that Mahindra could launch in India. It is unique as no other SUV comes with a 9-seater layout in the country. In 2023, Mahindra launched the Bolero Neo Plus Ambulance version. The civilian version will come with side-facing jump seats in the third row, giving it a 9-seater layout. On the design front, the Neo Plus is expected to get no changes compared to the ambulance model. Interior design would be similar with features like a 7-inch infotainment, semi-digital instrument cluster, all power windows, etc. Engine duties would be handled by the 2.2-litre diesel engine capable of producing 118bhp and 280Nm of torque. What about the launch? The Bolero Neo Plus is expected to be launched in the first quarter of 2024. We can expect a starting price of Rs 13 lakh and going to Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
