Mercedes-Benz India will be launching the S400 this month, as per Autocar. Continuing is its slew of launches from last year, the company plans to roll out more models this year and upgrades too.

The S-Class line-up in India includes the S350d diesel, S500 petrol, which comes with a long-wheelbase, the extra-long-wheelbase Mercedes-Maybach S-class in S500 and S600 variants, the recently launched ‘S 600 Guard’ variant and even the high-performance S63 AMG with 577bhp.

The S400 will come with a 3.0-litre, twin-turbocharged, direct-injection V6 petrol engine.It will produce 329bhp and 480Nm of torque.

This engine is offered  with the 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic gearbox, internationally. Its still unclear whether the company will offer it with a nine-speed gearbox that Mercedes-Benz has been upgrading to. The S-class, will include standard air suspension all around.

The S400 is expected to be positioned between the S350d diesel and the S500. This will make it cost somewhere around INR 1.5-1.8 crore mark (on-road).
