Tata Safari EV – Spy Photo

The spy photo features the test car of the new Safari. However, if we look closely, the test mule isn’t equipped with a tail pipe. This is a clear indication of the test mule being an EV version of the Safari. Not much EV specific details can be seen on the test mule as we have just one picture available. However, we can always speculate right? In fact it is safe to speculate the design of the Safari EV!
Design, Interiors & Features

Tata has already revealed the Harrier EV in the Auto Expo 2023. A similar design language can be seen on the Safari EV as well. In fact the design cues of the Harrier EV were later brought to the recently launched Harrier and Safari facelift. Similarly, we can see the Safari EV to remain identical to the current model. The only visual difference could be a closed up grille! Will they change the alloy wheel design? Maybe not. The recently launched Nexon and Nexon.ev facelifts share the similar alloy wheel design. Also, the Safari facelift already has a futuristic design for the alloy wheels and Tata may maintain the same for the EV as well. What about interiors? A majority of the interiors is expected to remain unchanged. We may not see too many differences other than the interior colour theme.
However, Tata Motors will likely offer an extensive feature list for the Safari EV! The SUV will carry most of the features from the regular Safari and may get some extras like – V2L and V2V. It may also get the arcade mode from Nexon.ev, and probably a larger touchscreen system than the current Safari.
Tata Safari EV – Battery Specifications

Tata has not revealed anything regarding the battery pack. However, for such a big SUV, we expect a 60-70kWh battery pack. Also, a real life range of around 400kms is expected with the Safari EV. Another interesting feature would be the AWD option on the Safari EV. Tata has confirmed the AWD hardware with the Harrier EV which is also expected on the Safari EV. It will have two motors – one on the front axle and one on the rear axle. The setup will enable the capabilities of the AWD system.
However, the XUV700 Electric SUV, which would be the direct competitor of the Safari EV is expected to get a 80kWh battery pack. Not just that, the XUV700 Electric SUV will also have advanced features like HUD with augmented reality and also Dolby surround sound system! We have already covered all the details of the Mahindra XUV700 Electric SUV.
Expected Launch & Price
Tata will probably launch the Harrier EV by the end of 2024. So will they launch the Safari EV alongside? We expect they would launch both the EV SUVs together as they did with the facelifts of these two. How much will the SUV cost? We are expecting the Safari EV to go all the way upto Rs 37 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Once launched, the Safari EV will face competition from the upcoming XUV700 electric SUV.
