Mahindra XUV.e8 exterior and interior spied

Mahindra has big ambitions in the EV sector. At its Futurescape event, it shared new details of its upcoming Born Electric cars. One of the first Born Electric cars will be the XUV.e8. Ahead of the launch, Mahindra has started testing the car. Now the test vehicle has been spied revealing some bits of the exterior and interior design. In today’s article, let’s talk about the spied Mahindra XUV.e8.
Interior spy shots

The interiors of the XUV.e8 have been spotted for the first time. We can see a two-spoke steering wheel similar to the recently launched Nexon facelift. Could we see an illuminated Mahindra logo here too? Only time will tell. The spy shots also reveal the three screens on the dashboard similar to the concept model. This screens should be 12.3-inches and come with a high-resolution display as eariler stated by Mahindra. Then, we have rectangular AC vents and touch-sensitive HVAC controls. In the centre console, we have a conventional lever for the drive selector. There is also a rotary knob probably for drive modes. Overall the interior of the car look quite similar to the concept model.
Mahindra XUV.e8 – Exterior Details

The exterior of the car is heavily camouflaged, but we can still make out some new details. At the front, we can see a new headlamp design with the connected DRLs as shown on the concept version. We can expect a closed-off grille to complete the EV look. The overall side profile looks identical to the XUV700. However, the alloy wheel design is new on the XUV.e8. At the rear, we can see similar tail lamps. We can expect a connecting tail lamp design on the XUV.e8.
Specifications
Mahindra recently revealed the expected specifications of its Born Electric cars. It revealed three options – a front powertrain with an 80kW motor with 135Nm of torque. The other two are rear powertrains – one with a 210kW with 535Nm of torque and the second is a 170kW motor with 380Nm of torque. Mahindra had claimed these are estimated figures and could vary in the future. The XUV.e8 is expected to come with an 80kW motor paired with all-wheel drive tech. Also, the Inglo platform comes with front mounted steering rack giving it a major improvement in understeer.
Mahindra XUV.e8 – Launch timeline
At its recent FutureScape event, Mahindra showcased tentative launch timelines of its Born Electric cars. The first car is going to be the XUV.e8, with an expected launch by December 2024. What about the pricing? We could expect a starting price somewhere around the Rs 30 lakh mark (on-road, Mumbai).
