Aprilia RS 457

With the unveiling Aprilia has revealed many details and the specs are pretty interesting. Talking about the design first, the RS 457 clearly draws inspiration from the bigger and powerful Aprilia RS 660. The RS 660 itself is a best selling sports bike in the European market which has the characteristics of a proper sports bike. So being based on the RS 660, RS 457 is expected to come with similar DNA and offer excellent handling.
The bike is equipped with a double front fairing that looks attractive and functional and draws similarities with the RS 660. Also it comes with a dual LED headlight setup. It also features a shorter visor and clip-on handle bar. The bike comes with an underbelly exhaust and as we go more towards the rear you can see the short tail section which is done neatly.
Features and hardware

The RS 457 comes loaded with tech and features. It gets an upside-down front fork and a mono-shock suspension setup at the rear. Also it gets disc brakes at both front and rear, a 5.0-inch TFT colour instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity, 3-stage traction control and ABS. The front gets a 320 mm while the rear gets a 220 mm disc. It comes with a tyre size of 17-inch tyres with a profile of 110/70 for the front and 150/60 section for the rear.
Aprilia RS 457 – Engine specs

Powering the bike is a 457 CC liquid cooled twin parallel engine. The engine is capable of producing segment leading 47bhp which delivers minimum vibrations to deliver thrilling ride experience. What sets the Aprilia apart from the competitors is the remarkable body-to-weight ratio. It is a lightweight bike with dry weight of 159 kg while the engine packs the Aprilia’s brilliant performance. The torque is unknown but we assume it to deliver segment best peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Also it will offer other functional features like ride-by-wire system and a quick shifter as an option.
Expected price
It is expected that Aprilia RS 457 would be manufactured at Piaggio’s facility at Baramati which will help them price aggressively. However you should expect the ex-showroom pricing between Rs 4 lakh to Rs 4.5 lakh. Once launched, it will compete with the segment leader KTM RC 390, Yamaha R3 and Kawasaki Ninja 400.
