Safety! It is something one should consider before buying a car as it is your prepaid insurance. Once you buy a car you can modify your car according to your taste and all you can do is add aesthetic elements or at the most increase the power. But what you cannot add aftermarket is airbags or any other safety feature for that matter. Even automakers are very serious when it comes to your safety. And keeping that in mind, many automakers have started offering 6-airbags with some offering them as a standard feature across all the variants. And yes, they are offered at an affordable price as well. You didn’t know, right? And so we are providing information about cars with 6 airbags under 15 Lakh.

Tata Nexon Facelift

To start with the list of cars to offer 6 airbags under 15 lakh is India’s favourite compact SUV, the Tata Nexon. Tata Nexon, the first ever Indian car to score the 5-star crash test rating at the Global NCAP is now even safer. Tata recently launched the Nexon facelift and has updated the car with redesigned exterior and interior.

Even the feature list is updated and now comes with many advanced features and technology. Also, being Tata they have thought about the safety of the passengers. So to enhance the safety even further, Tata Motors has now equipped the Nexon with 6 Airbags.

What’s great is that Tata Motors is offering 6 Airbags as standard so that the buyers of base variants too can be assured with the safety. The Nexon facelift now starts at Rs 9.75 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai) and goes all the way upto Rs 18.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Cars with 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh – Hyundai i20 / Hyundai i20 N Line

Next up is the hatchback from the Korean automaker and a strong competitor of Baleno and the Glanza. It is the Hyundai i20.

i20 has been one of the best handling hatch of the segment which also comes with Hyundai’s famous N Line disguise, making it one of the exciting products of the segment.

Overall the Hyundai i20 has made up in the list as it becomes another car to offer 6 Airbags as standard in all the variants and is priced under 15 Lakh price tag. It previously offered 6 Airbags to selective variants but has been made standard in a recent facelift. Also, the hatchback scored just 3-stars in the crash test by the Global Ncap.

Also, with the updates, Hyundai has introduced a new base variant, Era. The starting price of i20 is Rs 8.25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the base Era variant. As of now there are no updates to the N line variant and so Hyundai is offering 6 Airbags from the N8 variant for the N Line lineup of the i20. The Hyundai i20 N Line N8 starts at Rs 13.20 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Maruti Suzuki Baleno & Toyota Glanza

Next up are the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Toyota Glanza. As we already know about Maruti-Toyota’s partnership of sharing cars and launching under their portfolio as rebadged versions.

The Baleno has been one of the top selling cars from Maruti and favourite among the Indians and it is based on the Heartect platform which is not very known for its safety.

The platform has been shared with Swift and Ertiga with both scoring 1 and 3 stars respectively at the Global Ncap crash test.

However, Baleno or Glanza has never been tested so we do not have any safety ratings of the same.

That said, both the cars are equipped with 6 Airbags from the Zeta variant of Baleno and G variant of the Glanza.

Talking about their on road pricing in Mumbai, the Baleno Zeta is priced at 9.70 Lakh and Glanza G has been priced at 10.19 Lakh.

Cars with 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh – Mahindra XUV 300

The second car on the list is from Mahindra and it is their compact SUV, the XUV 300. It is another car after Nexon on the list to receive 5-star ratings at the Global Ncap crash test.

It has been one of the favourite cars of Indians and recently it even received a bump in the power. However the car never received a proper interior or exterior update. Whereas its arch rival Tata Nexon got stronger and stronger as a product and ate up the sales figures becoming one of the top selling SUVs.

However the test mules of XUV 300 facelift have been spotted which is expected to get a heavy design overhaul. It was also spotted with a panoramic sunroof which is first in the category. 

For now the W8 optional is the starting variant of the XUV 300 to get equipped with 6-Airbags and it is priced at 14.96 Lakh on-road Mumbai. 

Kia Sonet

Next we have another compact SUV of the segment, the Kia Sonet. It is one of the favourite compact SUVs of Indians, thanks to its aggressive styling and a very stylish interior trims.

With Sonet, Kia went ahead by offering it 6 Airbags which however does not come standard across the variants. Although we do hope Kia will offer 6 Airbags as standard with the Sonet facelift as they have already started offering it with their newer cars like the Kia Carens and the 2023 Kia Seltos facelift.

For now the Kia is offering 6 Airbags from the HTX Plus Turbo iMT variant of the Sonet, and it is priced from 15 Lakhs on-road Mumbai, making its space at par in our today’s list of cars with 6 airbags under 15 lakh.

Hyundai Verna

The fifth car on the list of cars under 15 lakh to offer 6 Airbags is again a Hyundai product, and this time around it’s a sedan, or probably the only sedan.

We are talking about the Hyundai Verna 2023. Launched a few months back, Hyundai went ahead by equipping the Verna with segment’s first 6 Airbags as standard.

Hyundai and Kia seem serious about safety and so we are seeing many cars of these two brands to offer 6 airbags as standard across all the variants.

The price for Hyundai Verna starts at 13.06 Lakh on road Mumbai.

Cars with 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh – Maruti Suzuki Fronx

Next car to make up in the list is the newly launched Maruti Suzuki Fronx. Based on the platform of its own hatchback Baleno, Maruti has offered 6 Airbags from the mid variant of the Fronx which is similar to that of the Baleno.

The Fronx boasts a unique design language which we are not familiar with from the Maruti Suzuki. It gets an aggressive sloping roof with an attractive rear design. While the front is highly inspired with the brand’s own SUV, the Grand Vitara.

Priced at 12.39 Lakh on-road Mumbai, the Zeta MT onwards you get 6 Airbags with the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. 

Hyundai Venue  

If the Kia Sonet has it then how come the Venue will miss out! Another compact SUV to get 6 Airbags which priced under 15 Lakh is the Hyundai Venue.

After enjoying the sales for a good time after its debut, the Venue got a midlife makeover changes last year, making the car even more attractive. It was one of the first cars to get connected tail lamps and Hyundai did a good job by giving the Venue a Palisade inspired front grille.

So if you are looking to buy the Venue with 6 Airbags, you have variants starting from SX (O) and it is priced at 14.74 Lakh on the road in Mumbai.

Cars with 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh – Kia Carens 

To spice up the list we have another car which is again from a Korean car manufacturer, the Kia Carens. The Carens also happens to be the only 7-seater car on the list to offer 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh.

However, do keep in mind that although equipped with 6 airbags, Kia Carens has scored just 3-stars in the Global Ncap crash test.

Again, Kia is offering 6 Airbags across all the variants of the Carens as standard.

The on-road price of the Kia Carens in Mumbai starts at 12.41 Lakhs.

Hyundai Creta 

Hyundai Creta is the most famous SUV and one of the top selling SUVs of the brand. It is loved by most Indians and has become an easy choice to buy since it was first launched.

To gain more trust from the buyers, Hyundai is offering 6 Airbags with the Creta, ensuring maximum safety.

For the masses it is available as a standard equipment across all the variants. However the SUV scored not so impressive 3-stars at the Global Ncap crash test.

The starting on-road Mumbai price of the Creta is 12.9 Lakh.

Cars with 6 Airbags under 15 Lakh – Kia Seltos 

The final car to make in the list of cars with 6 airbags under 15 Lakh is the Kia Seltos. The SUV recently got a facelift and received significant updates.

Also it was the brand’s debutant SUV in India and it immediately took the sales by storm. However to ensure the safety of the occupants, Kia went ahead by offering 6 Airbags as standard.

Also, based on the platform of the Hyundai Creta, Seltos scored similar 3-star ratings at the Global Ncap crash test.

The on-road Mumbai price of the Kia Seltos is 12.98 Lakhs.

So as you can see it was the dominance of Hyundai and Kia to offer 6 Airbags under 15 Lakhs, with many of their cars offering 6 Airbags as standard. However, what’s important to know is that none of their cars in the list has secured more than 3-stars in the Global NCAP crash test.

Overall as we always say, Airbags are just safety features, the build quality of the car is highly dependent on the quality of the steel used to build a car. So it’s up to you as to what’s important for you, safety features i.e airbags, or the actual strength of the car.
