BMW X5, X6 to get Touchscreen infotainment

The BMW X5 and X6 will be receiving an update in their infotainment system.

This update will be in the form of a touchscreen.

 The X5 and X6 still use the i-Drive interface for navigating through and while others have moved on to touchscreen systems, BMW will be there in a few months.

According to BMW Blog, will change soon. Beyond the addition of touchscreen support, the X5 and X6’s infotainment setup will be updated to the latest iDrive 5.

0 system, which will retain the existing iDrive controller in the center console but now be operable through the improved display itself as well.

The X5 and X6 will not be getting the  gesture control which is available on the new 7-Series.

The new touchscreen for the SUVs will be an update for the 2017 model year. There might be a possibility of current X5 and X6 owners getting a retrofitment of the touchscreens, however it is not yet confirmed.

BMW India had launched the X5M and X6M in October last year, raising the bar for high-performance sports cars with highly emotive design, increased output and efficiency.
