Tata Motors is on a roll in the Indian market with sales almost touching the 50,000 sales mark. With such sales, Tata is knocking on the door of Hyundai for the top-2 spot. Tata sales are driven by its SUVs mainly the Nexon and Punch. Tata knows that if it wants to challenge Hyundai, it will need its other cars to also perform well. One such car is the Tigor compact sedan. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Tigor 2023.
What to expect?
The Tigor is expected to get all the changes expected on the Tiago hatchback. The Tigor has got some minor midlife updates, but it needs a serious rejuvenation. For starters, Tata might base the new generation Tigor on the ALFA arc platform like the Altroz. The current model has good safety ratings, but the ALFA arc could be even better. With a new platform, we can expect a radically different design on the new-generation Tigor.
The new-generation Tigor could continue with the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. This engine in its current guise produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque. Transmission options include a 5-speed MT or AMT gearbox. The CNG option will continue, maybe Tata can even give it the twin-cylinder technology. Could Tata introduce the JTP variant by offering a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine? Only time will tell, but that would be quite an enthusiast-focused car and add fun to drive options in this segment.
Tata Tigor 2023 – Launch timeline
Tata has been quite tightlipped about the future of the Tiago and Tigor. Still, the Tigor and Tiago need an update, so Tata should look to update them in the upcoming months. What about the price hike? With the platform changes and added features, we expect a price hike of Rs 60k to 70k on the new Tigor.
