Tata is leading the electric segment in the country. Recently the Tiago EV became the quickest EV to achieve the 10,000 sales mark in the country. Tata knows it has achieved this success with smaller cars. Now Tata wants to enter the big SUV segment with the Harrier EV. The brand showcased the car at the auto expo, but when is Tata launching the Harrier EV? In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Harrier EV launch.
Launch details
Tata claimed that the Harrier EV showcased at the Auto Expo was a near-production model. Still, various bits of the car looked concept-like. According to earlier reports, Tata plans to launch the Harrier EV by the end of 2023. However, Tata has a packed 2023 with the Nexon facelift and Harrier/Safari facelift scheduled to hit the market. So it doesn’t seem Tata will fit in another important product like Harrier EV in 2023. The next possible option is in early 2024 before it launches the Curvv. By offering an EV in almost every segment, Tata Electric could be the kingpin of the EV market in India. What about pricing? We are expecting the Harrier EV to be priced somewhere around Rs 30 to 35 lakhs (ex-showroom) which would turn out attractive for many buyers. This will be possible due to the tax benefits EVs enjoy in the country.
What else do we know?
Tata has not talked about the interiors of the car. But, we expect plenty of changes in its cabin with EV-specific design elements. We could see several new features like a new infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, rotary-styled gear knob, 360-degree camera, LED taillamps, and many more additions to the car.
Tata Harrier EV launch – Specifications
Tata will have to offer a good amount of range on the Harrier EV for it to be a success. No official details have been shared about its specifications, but we can expect a 60kWh to 70kWh battery pack to power the car. This battery pack should give it a real-world range of 400 to 500km. A car of Harrier’s size and with the rumoured AWD capabilities, it needs at least this much range to be an option for buyers.
