Maruti’s best 7-seater coming soon?

Maruti as a manufacturer owns the affordable category in the country. All its products rake in good sales but knows it has to step up its game. It needs to slowly move into the upper segments as the Indian market matures. It has started the process with the Grand Vitara and now it is going a step ahead. Maruti is going to rebadge the Innova Hycross. The Innova nameplate is big, and that could help Maruti. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Engage.  

Name revealed?

Maruti has filed a trademark for the Engage nameplate in India. Generally, brands regularly file trademarks, so this could be just that. However, the launch of the Maruti HyCross is so close. This could be what Maruti calls its badge-engineered Innova HyCross. 

What else to expect?

Like all other badge-engineered cars, the Maruti Innova HyCross will inherit the same platform and tech from Toyota. So it will continue with the 2.0-litre petrol engine (184bhp and 188Nm of torque) and an eCVT gearbox. Whereas, the regular 2.0-litre pure petrol model (173bhp and 209Nm) will also continue. In terms of features, it could be one of the most feature-loaded cars in Maruti’s portfolio. We could see features like wireless charging, ADAS, Ottoman seats, powered tailgate, panoramic sunroof, JBL sound system etc. On the exterior, we can expect some minor design tweaks, and the same can be said about the interior. 

Maruti Engage – Launch timeline

So when is Maruti launching its Innova HyCross? According to reports, Maruti has plans to launch the badge-engineered HyCross in the upcoming two months. This could mean the launch could happen just around August this year. The badge-engineered model will be sold through Maruti’s premium Nexa outlets.
