MG Comet launched! First EV for all?
MG Motors has had an adventurous ride in the country. It has targeted some popular and also some not-so-popular segments in India. But the Comet EV has to be the brand’s most ambitious product. Such small cars have never worked in India, but MG is hoping it could turn the tide. MG has finally launched the Comet EV. In today’s article, let’s talk about the launched MG Comet.
Variants & pricing
Earlier MG had revealed the starting price of the Comet EV. Now MG has revealed the pricing of the other variants. The Comet EV comes in three variants – Pace, Play and Plush. Pace is priced at Rs 7.98 lakh, Play is priced at Rs 9.28 lakh, and Plush is priced at Rs 9.98 lakh. These are introductory prices for the first 5000 bookings.
MG Comet EV – Design
The MG Comet is a car that will instantly grab your attention on the roads. It has a design that you will either love or hate to the core there is no in-between. Dimension-wise, the Comet will become the smallest car in the country with a length under 3000mm. At the front, we get a bonnet-wide DRL strip with headlamps placed lower. LED turn indicators are placed on the lower bumper. The tyres are quite small with 12-inch rims. At the rear, we can have LED tail lamps and an upright rear windshield.
Specifications
The Comet EV comes with a 17.3kWh battery with a claimed range between 200km to 250km. So the Comet EV is more of an urban EV useful for daily errands etc. Its motor delivers around 40 bhp to the rear wheels, which should be adequate for Comet EV as it’s just around 815kg. 0 to 100 charge is expected to take 8.5 hours. DC charging is not offered, which could be a miss.
MG Comet EV – Features
MG is targeting a premium experience with Comet. It comes with a 10.25-inch infotainment system with another 10.25-inch screen housing the digital instrument cluster. Other features of the Comet include keyless entry, a tyre pressure monitoring system, an electric parking brake and steering-mounted audio controls.
