Mahindra has had a superb last few years with new SUVs like the XUV700 and Scorpio-N. Several cars in Mahindra’s portfolio have big booking backlogs. Sadly not all cars are enjoying the same level of success. So Mahindra has no option but to pull the plug on one such car that i.e the Marazzo. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Mahindra Marazzo 2023.

Will it be discontinued?

Mahindra Marazzo 2023

Mahindra has been tight-lipped about the future of the Marazzo. Earlier it was expected to be discontinued as Mahindra was not willing to update the engine for the BS6 stage 2 norms. However, Mahindra is using the same engine on the newly launched Thar RWD. So the engine is expected to continue. But the sales of the Marazzo have been abysmal for some time. Mahindra sold only 141 units of the Marazzo in February 2023. So the best option for Mahindra is to discontinue the Marazzo to free up much-needed production capacity for its other SUVs.

Mahindra Marazzo 2023 – What went wrong?

Mahindra had big ambitions for the Marazzo. It had hoped that it would have taken on the Maruti Ertiga and also the Toyota Innova. However, Mahindra missed a trick by not offering an automatic gearbox option. Another missed chance was not offering a petrol engine which further dented its sales. By the time Mahindra figured it out, the Marazzo was already a flop product and there was no way Mahindra could revive it.

What’s next from Mahindra?

Mahindra Marazzo 2023

Mahindra has a sleeve of products coming in the next few years. Its first new product could be the Bolero Neo Plus followed by the Mahindra Thar 5-door. After this Mahindra is expected to bring its ambitious born EV products. The first product in this could be the e8, which is essentially an XUV700 electric.
