Tata’s entry-level model, the Tiago stands strong in the hatchback category. Available with a capable petrol engine along with a bi-fuel CNG option, the Tiago is also the safest one in its category. It benefits from a slew of advantages on its side but still fails to shine on the sales chart. So, what could Tata do? The homegrown automaker might bring a new generation update to the Tiago. The current selling model is launched in the year 2016. Since then it has got multiple midlife updates which have helped it maintain equilibrium with its rivals. However, it’s about time for the Tiago to get a serious rejuvenation. For starters, Tata might base the new generation Tiago on the ALFA arc platform like the Altroz. The current model does score heavily on the safety point but giving it the ALFA addition would definitely take the safety quotient to another level. After increasing the strength of the vehicle, Tata may give the Tiago a tweaked look which can lure more buyers towards the car. Though nothing can be said for the time being a new contemporary design could be eye candy for young audiences.

The new generation Tiago’s powerhouse could remain the same 1.2-litre petrol engine. Making 85bhp and 113Nm of torque, this engine is expected to couple either with a 5-speed MT or an AMT. The CNG option could also be retained for all mileage-conscious buyers. Moreover, Tata might add something for all the enthusiast buyers of this segment. What could Tata do? For all those who are missing the Tiago JTP, the brand might bring the hot-hatch back with the inhouse 1.2-litre turbo petrol now seen on the Nexon.
