The year 2022 became the most successful year for the Czech automaker all thanks to its ever-popular Kushaq SUV. The brand has finally tasted success under the India Revival 2.0 plan which introduced cars like the Slavia and Kushaq. The brand entered the most lucrative SUV segment with the latter but what’s next for it? It has forayed plans for the new compact SUV coming in 2025 but what does it have above the Kushaq? Could it ever bring a 7-seater version of the Kushaq to rival Alcazar? Let’s know more.

New Skoda 7 seater – What to expect?

If we look at the Kushaq, it stands firm in the C-segment SUVs which rivals the Creta, Seltos and other established products in the market. Its 5-star safety rating, many features and capable powertrains have also made it the highest-selling Skoda car in India. Therefore, when Skoda already has the sale harnessing Kushaq, it could make use of the same and make it a 7-seater. Though it doesn’t look like a walk in the park, the automaker could utilise the same MQB-AO-IN platform and increase the overhangs. This would enable it to occupy the third row of seating and keep some space for the boot.

What about the engine? If we compare it with the Alcazar, the Hyundai has now got the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol in the Alcazar. Now, if we see at Skoda, it does have the 1.5-litre TSi mill from the Kushaq. It makes 148bhp and 250Nm of torque and pairing it with the 7DCT could make it the perfect combination for the new 7-seater. This new 7 seater could be a suitable option for many families which seldom require the third row. When not using the third row, you can simply fold it and make use of the colossal boot. If it ever launched, we can expect this premium car to be priced somewhere around Rs 18 to 20 lakh (ex-showroom).
