SUVs continue to be the driving force in the country. Even small SUVs like the Punch are raking in good sales numbers. Now Hyundai is also looking to bring a small SUV to compete with the Punch. We have been writing about this Punch rival and now we have new spy shots of the Hyundai Punch rival. In today’s article, let’s talk about Hyundai small SUV.

New spy shots

The spy shots were posted on the website of Autospy, a South Korean website. The car is covered in heavy camouflage, but still, we can spot some key highlights. For starters, we can see halogen headlamps and H-shaped LED DRLs. Other than that, we also have a Venue like grille. As we move to the side, we can see steel wheel caps and normal door handles. At the rear, again we have an H-shaped taillamp design.

Other expected things

The micro-SUV is codenamed Ai3 and will sit below the Venue in Hyundai’s portfolio. This will make the Ai3 the smallest SUV in the brand’s portfolio. It is expected to share its platform and mechanical bits with the Grand i10 Nios. So we could see the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated engine on this SUV. Turbo petrol and diesel could spice up things, but the possibility of this happening seems low right now. Being a Hyundai, it is expected to come loaded with features like a big infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, wireless phone charging etc.

The Hyundai Punch rival is yet to be spotted in India, but it has been spotted several times in South Korea. According to rumours, the Ai3 is expected to be launched just before the festive season. What about the pricing? The Ai3 could be priced around the Rs 6-lakh mark, pitting it directly against the Tata Punch. Other rivals of the Ai3 will include the Maruti Ignis and Citroen C3.
