Mahindra created havoc in the SUV segment by bringing the ever-popular XUV700. With the waiting periods still sky-high due to the immense customer response, this SUV has stayed second to none in its segment. However, the undisputed championship of the Mahindra could be questioned by a new rival coming from the makers of Fortuner. Toyota is working on a new 7-seater SUV that could rival the XUV700. Which is this new upcoming Toyota SUV? Read below.

Upcoming Toyota SUV – Design

Upcoming Toyota SUV

Toyota is working on a new 7-seater which is likely to be based on the TNGA-C platform used on the Innova HyCross. The wheelbase of this car is likely to maintain equilibrium with other C-segment SUVs but an additional 3rd row would be imbibed to enhance the practicality forte. Talking about the design, this new car would take adaptations from the Corolla Cross but this specific model is likely to have some tweaks to differentiate. As the global car is a strict 5 seater, India would be getting a 7 seater. Therefore, we can see the looks sharing design cues from other Toyota India cars.

Globally this car is available with the 1.8-litre petrol powertrain but the Indian version could see other options. The possible ones are the same as the Innova HyCross with the 2.0-litre petrol and 2.0-litre strong hybrid setup. This might be a bummer for all the diesel heads which also has stayed a sweet spot for the Japanese automaker. However, the efficiency and refinement of the strong hybrid mill could ironically come out as a major advantage over its rivals.

Upcoming Toyota SUV – Features and Pricing

As this car would be using the monocoque TNGA-C setup, Toyota could give this one the same feature-loaded treatment as the HyCross. Therefore, we can expect this car to get all the possible features available in this segment. Then, being a Toyota with its immense badge value could be a major plus point for the brand. What about pricing? Pricing of the car could be on the expensive side comparatively but Toyota’s brand value could swallow it all in. Therefore, we could see a strong competitor in the making against the XUV700. What are your thoughts on this car? Let us know in the comments.
