Popular global SUV coming in the next few months!

SUVs are trending in the country as are our reels on Instagram. Such has been the popularity of the SUV segment that all manufacturers have at least one EV in their lineup. Some manufacturers are even bringing globally acclaimed SUV nameplates to the country. One such manufacturer is Nissan. Late last year, Nissan showcased the X-trail in the country. In today’s article, let’s talk about this popular global SUV.

Design

Nissan is bringing the latest generation of the X-Trail to India. This 4th generation model is based on the new CMF platform. This platform is shared by several manufacturers like Nissan, Renault and Mitsubishi. Coming to the design, the X-trail comes with a big grille that is integrated into its DRL setup. Below them, we have big LED headlamps. The side profile is clean with no major cuts and creases. Nissan has confirmed that it plans to bring the 7-seater option to India.

Popular global SUV – Specifications

Globally, the X-Trail comes with a single 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, but with three different hybrid setups. These hybrid setups include a mild hybrid one, a 2WD ‘e-power variant’ and an ‘e4orce version’ with ‘e-power’. The mild hybrid one makes 188bhp and 250Nm of torque, while the 2WD produces 201bhp and 330Nm of torque. Naturally, the e4orce version is the most powerful producing 210bhp and 525Nm of torque. All the hybrid options only come with an automatic CVT option.

Interior and features

The X-Trail is globally acclaimed for its premium fit & finish. It comes with a plush interior layout with a lot of soft-touch points. Another strong point for the X-Trail is that it comes loaded with features. It comes with features like a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, auto hold, driving modes, 360-degree parking camera, panoramic sunroof, ADAS etc.

Popular global SUV – India launch

Nissan has confirmed that it will eventually launch the X-Trail in the country. The X-Trail has even been spotted testing on a few occasions. Nissan is yet to give a fixed launch timeline for the X-Trail. We think the launch could happen in mid-2023. Pricing-wise, it is hard to guess the pricing considering Nissan is yet to reveal whether the X-Trail would come through the CBU or the CKD route. Either way, Nissan would have to price it under Rs 50 lakhs for buyers to take notice.
