The Jimny was one car everyone was dying to see in the country. Maruti finally unveiled the Jimny 5-door at the Auto Expo 2023. The Jimny has already raked in over 10k+ bookings. But has Maruti missed a trick by not offering a 7-seater option on the Jimny? There were rumours before the unveiling about the Jimny 7-seater. Why a 7-seater?
Before the Auto Expo, there were rumours that Maruti was working on a 5-seater and a 7-seater option on the Jimny. There were even some spy shots of the 7-seater variant in testing. But at the Expo, Maruti only revealed the 5-seater option. This means the 7-seater idea has been put on hold by the brand. The Jimny 7-seater would have felt cramped up, but an extra option would have helped Maruti target a larger group of audience.
What else do we know?
Maruti has taken the wraps off the Jimny, so we know what it gets. It comes with a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine capable of producing 103bhp and 134Nm of torque. In terms of features, it comes with a headlamp washer, automatic climate control, cruise control, a 9-inch infotainment system, 4 speakers, an ARKAMYs sound system etc. If the Maruti ever launches the Jimny 7-seater it will get the same specifications and features.
Jimny 7-seater 2023 – Will it happen?
As stated above, Maruti was thinking about bringing the 7-seater Jimny. However, that plan seems to have been put on hold by Maruti for now. So will it happen? That’s hard to guess, as things can change in the automotive scene. If there is a demand for 7-seaters in the future, Maruti could launch the Jimny 7-seater in the country.
