Honda has firmly established itself in the two-wheeler segment. As a brand, its two-wheelers are known for their reliability and easy service. The Honda Activa has been a product that has helped Honda imprint this image. It has been the top-selling two-wheeler in the country for several years now. But with the electric wave around, Honda knows it has to adapt. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Honda S1 Pro rival.

The Activa EV has been rumoured for several years and now finally Honda has thrown some light on its development. According to reports, Honda is locally developing an electric scooter based on Activa. It will be just an electric powertrain replacing the engine. Overall it will have a fixed battery pack and offer a maximum speed of just 50kmph.

Plans

The Activa EV is kind of a stop-gap for Honda before it brings a proper electric scooter to compete with the likes of the Ola S1 Pro and Ather 450X. This scooter will be based on a proper electric platform and come with swappable batteries. Also, unlike the Activa EV, it will come with better performance and range to match modern electric scooters.

Also, Honda plans to set up several battery-swapping stations before it rolls out the second electric scooter. What about the launch timelines? Honda is planning to launch the Activa EV in the financial year 2023-24.
