Tata Nexon facelift engine details out!

The Tata Nexon continues to go strong in the SUV space. It led the SUV charts through most of 2022 and is expected to continue this momentum in 2023. However, the Nexon is due for an update considering its last major update happened in 2020. There are rumours that Tata is working on the Nexon facelift. The Nexon facelift could get a new turbo petrol engine Tata showcased at the expo. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Tata Nexon facelift new engine. 

Tata Nexon facelift – New engine

Tata had a blockbuster Auto Expo with several new cars unveiled. With the cars, it also revealed two new petrol engines – one is a 1.2-litre turbo and 1.5-litre turbo. The 1.5-litre is an all-new engine capable of producing 167bhp and 280Nm of torque. Tata could use this engine on the Harrier/Safari and the upcoming Curvv. The second engine is an updated version of the current 1.2-litre turbo petrol. This engine is capable of producing 123bhp and 225Nm of torque. Which is a significant jump from the current 118bhp and 170Nm of torque. According to Tata, this engine is BS6 stage 2 ready and also compatible with the E20 ethanol mix. 

What else to expect?

The Nexon facelift could get a completely reworked design. We could see new headlamps, bumpers and alloy wheels. In the interiors, Tata could change the dashboard layout and seat upholstery. What about the new features? We could see the new 10-inch infotainment system, 360-degree camera, wireless Android Auto & Apple CarPlay. The Nexon facelift will also continue with its 1.5-litre diesel engine as Tata is updating this engine for the upcoming BS6 stage 2 norms. 

Launch timeline

For now, the Nexon is still selling like hotcakes, so we don’t expect Tata to launch the Nexon facelift any time soon. At max, Tata could bring the Nexon facelift by the end of this year or early next year. Before the facelift, Tata could bring the new engine on the current Nexon before the BS6 Stage 2 norms.
