The EV space is seeing a lot of activity in the last few years. Tata already has several EVs and other manufacturers like Hyundai and Kia have also launched their new EVs. Now India’s biggest manufacturer Maruti has also showcased its first EV concept, the Maruti eVX concept. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti eVX concept. 

Concept design

Maruti has taken creative libirites in making the eVX concept. Before talking about the design, lets talk about the dimensions, the EVX concept is 4300mm in length, 1800mm in width & 1,600mm in height. This diemensions put it on par with C-segment SUVs like Hyundai Creta. At first glance, this seems to be an extension of the Futuro concept Maruti revealed at the Auto Expo 2020. At the front, we have a closed grille with a inverted C-shaped DRL design. Fog lamps are placed on the air dam. Coming to the sides, the EVX looks big. What about the rear? At the rear, we have a connected taillamp design like the Grand Vitara.

The eVX is based on all-new dedicated EV platform. Maruti only revealed some of the specifications of the EVX concept. For starters, it will come with a 60kWh battery pack delivering a expected range of 550km. According to eariler reports, we could see a rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive setup on the EVX.

Maruti has shown the eVX concept, but the production version of the car is still a few years away from seeing the light of day. Maruti plans to launch the production verison of the eVX concept by early 2025. What about the pricing? Maruti has plans to price the eVX somewhere around Rs 13 lakhs to Rs 15 lakhs range, pitting it against the MG ZS EV, Tata Nexon and Hyundai Kona.
