MG Motors is slowly establishing itself in the Indian market. MG’s India journey actually started with a bang when it debuted the Hector in 2019. However, since then things have changed and MG had to adapt. Recently it launched the all-new Hector with a refreshed design and features. So what’s next from the brand? It has to be the Air EV. The MG Air EV with a length of just 2900mm could become the smallest car in the Indian market. It could sport 12-inch wheels supporting this two-door body design. The Air EV has debuted outside India under the Wuling brand, so we know it gets modern-day design with dual chamber headlamps and a distinctive LED strip on the front. Moreover, if we talk about its side profile and rear, it looks minimalistic and simple conveying its Kei characteristics.

In terms of features, this car gets plenty of equipment on offer. We are talking about its touchscreen infotainment system, digital driver’s display, steering-mounted audio control and other features as well. The overall interior layout of the car would be minimalistic and more focused on new tech.

Globally, the MG Air EV comes with two motor & range options; a 30kW and a 50kW motor with two range options – a 200km standard one & a 300km extended one. With this range, the Air EV could become a perfect city car.


Pricing

MG Air EV India

MG has stated that it doesn’t intend to price the Air EV aggressively. It wants to rather position the Air EV as a premium affordable offering. We expect the Air EV to start from Rs 12 lakh (ex-showroom). This will make it a lot more expensive than the Tiago EV, which offers better interior space. It remains to be seen if the MG Air EV could work in India.
