Last week, the Jimny 5-door was spotted for the first time without any camouflage. So what did it reveal? The longer Jimny gets some subtle changes over the 3-door model. Maruti has kept the overall boxy nature of the car without any cuts and creases. The 5-door model comes with well-defined body cladding and a tailgate-mounted spare wheel. At the rear, we have vertically placed tail lamps on the bumper and the Jimny badging.

The Jimny 5-door could pose a strong threat to the Mahindra Thar. According to reports, the Jimny could come with 5-seater and 7-seater options to offer more options to prospective customers. What about the engine options? The Maruti Jimny 5-door is expected to come with a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated K15B engine paired with 4×2 and 4×4 capabilities. Maruti is expected to add some hybrid technology to increase efficiency.

Maruti is expected to unveil the car at the Auto Expo of 2023. The recently spotted car could be for advertorial purposes. What about the launch? The launch could happen in mid-2023.
