The lifestyle SUV segment has gathered pace in the country, thanks to the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha. However, one car everyone has been waiting for is the Maruti Jimny. This car is expected to make the lifestyle segment mainstream in India. Knowing this hype, Maruti is working on a 5-door model. We have covered the Jimny in detail, but confusion regarding its engine option persists. In today’s article, let’s talk about the Maruti Jimny engine options.

Maruti Jimny – Engine details

Maruti Jimny engine

The most probable option looks the 1.5-litre K15C engine capable of producing 103bhp and 138Nm of torque. Many think that other options could come in the shape of a 1.4-litre turbocharged mill or a more powerful 1.5-litre engine. However, Maruti uses the same engine on the Brezza and the much bigger Grand Vitara. Other engine options like the 1.5-litre turbo and 1.4-litre turbo will be expensive options for adding to only one car. Maruti as a manufacturer is known for affordable cars and will look to keep the same in the Jimny. So the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated K15C will be the best option for Maruti to put in the Jimny. Maruti will also provide the 4×4 and an optional 4×2 option on the Jimny.

What else do we know?

The Jimny even with its small dimensions packs a punch to take on the Gurkha and Thar. According to reports, Maruti could bring six and seven-seater options on the Jimny 5-door. This will help Maruti to take on the Thar 3-door and the upcoming 5-door variant. What about the features? It could get features like an infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, all-power windows, and some basic Suzuki connect features.
