Toyota Innova HyCross unveiled in India!
Innova has always been a salient moniker for the Japanese automaker. Launched in 2004, the Innova has tasted success like no other MPV. After these many years where Innova went through multiple facelifts and a proper generation update with the ‘Crysta’ badging, its time has come to imbibe another major update. This new car is called the ‘Innova HyCross’ with a hybrid powertrain being one of many new additions. Let’s know in detail about the new Toyota Innova HyCross in India!
Toyota Innova HyCross India – Design
The front fascia of the car is in tandem with other Toyota SUVs. It has taken iterations from the RAV4 and Hilux as we can spot a familiar grille, bold front look and flared fenders. All these elements are enhancing its SUV appeal whereas it’s actually an MPV. Moreover, it still continues to get sharp headlamps, major cuts and creases on the bonnet, sleek horizontal taillamps, etc which can also be seen on the Crysta. Other than this, Toyota has underpinned the new Innova on its TNGA-C platform which is a monocoque setup. This is expected to improve the driving dynamics from its predecessor. One more thing to note is that it is going to be a front wheel drive car whereas the Crysta is a RWD.
Features
Looking at the interiors of the Innova HyCross, we can now state the fact that Toyota has extensively worked on its feature list. First of all, it gets plenty of soft-touch materials in the interior, a panoramic sunroof, an electronic parking brake, a powered tailgate, a 10.1-inch infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, ambient lighting and more. This new MPV has more luxurious features like the ‘Ottoman’ feature for the second row, etc., which has mounted its premium quotient. However, the Indian spec misses out on rear seat entertainment package which is available on Indonesian variants. Toyota has also showcased its Safety Sense 3.0’ which is made available in the HyCross. It’s basically ADAS which gets features like adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, road sign assist, auto high beam and more.
Toyota Innova HyCross India -Specifications
As Toyota stopped taking orders for diesel Innova Crysta, it severely affected its sales. Moreover, if we talk about this new Innova Hycross, it is also lacking the presence of a diesel engine. So, what’s in Toyota’s mind? This new model has brought a 2.0-litre hybrid (183bhp) with the engine torque being 188Nm and motor torque being 206Nm. This would result in 25% upgrade in terms of performance by ensuring 50% more fuel efficiency. Its mileage figures are claimed at 21.10 kmpl and it is capable of doing a 0 to 100kph sprint in 9.5 seconds.
Moreover, it will also come with a pure petrol engine churning out 172bhp and 205Nm of torque and would be coupled to a CVT gearbox. Both these engines would come with CVT auto gearbox. The regular pure petrol model would come with a conventional CVT whereas the hybrid powertrain is set to get an eCVT. No manual gearbox would be available.
Price and Launching
Toyota India has unveiled the Innova HyCross. Finally, the covers are off and we have shared what’s all in the package. However, the brand hasn’t spoken anything about its pricing yet. However, the variant lineup has been revealed wherein the Hybrid model would be made available in top ‘VX, ZX, and ZX (O)’. On the other hand, pure petrol would be seen in the base and mid ‘G’ and ‘GX’ variants respectively. Moreover, both 8-seater and 7-seater variants would be on offer (G, GX, VX). The prices will be revealed in January 2023. Could Auto Expo 2023 be the best time for it? Let’s hope so.
