The 7-seater segment has always found takers in the market, but the last few years have accelerated the growth. The affordable segment has been growing at a rapid pace with few players. Currently, only Kia and Maruti have cars in this segment. With Hyundai expected to soon enter this segment, Tata also needs a car in this segment. This affordable 7-seater could help Tata take on the competition. In today’s article, let’s talk about Tata Carens rival.

Why does Tata need this?

Tata has seen a massive amount of growth in the last few years and has the desire to overtake Hyundai in the sales chart. However, Tata has two segments where it has no presence, the C-segment and the affordable MPV segment. If Tata needs to take on Hyundai, it needs a car in this segment. For the C-segment, Tata is developing the Curvv. But there is nothing in sight for an affordable 7-seater.

Tata’s option

Tata’s options are quite limited in this aspect. Currently, it only has two new platforms: the Alfa Architecture and the Omega Platform. The problem with the Alfa Architecture is cant be extended more. While the Omega Arc will be an expensive affair for Tata on an affordable MPV. Another option Tata has is to use the old X1 platform that is used by the Tata Nexon. Tata could bring a Nexon-based 7-seater similar to the Kia Carens.

So what are the chances of this happening? It’s hard to predict, as there is nothing concrete about this Tata 7-seat. However, Tata needs such a product to propel its sales. Tata could name this car the Sumo, to bring the nostalgia back.
