The Indian car market is riding high on SUVs as many buyers are shifting their focus to SUV perks. While we talk about SUVs in today’s era, it is not just limited to the traditional rugged diesel-guzzling setups. The current enthralling demand has divided the SUV segment into many different SUV categories. One of these categories have SUVs that are fierce and offer great driving dynamics. So, today let’s take a look at the 5 fast SUVs in India under 15 lakh.
Fast SUVs in India – Hyundai Venue N-Line
Hyundai recently launched the ‘N-line’ variant of its sub-compact SUV. Available solely with the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and the 7-speed DCT gearbox, it gets some other sporty updates too. It gets red highlights on the interior as well as exterior, red ambient lighting, N-Line specific upholstery, etc. If we talk about its specifications, Hyundai has tweaked its suspension for better sporty handling capabilities and the exhaust now produces a bassy note.
Mahindra XUV300 T-GDi
The XUV300 was already the widest and safest car in the segment. Now, with the T-GDi update, it has also become the fastest. Mahindra has brought in a new 4-cylinder 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine. This engine churns out a maximum of 128bhp and 250Nm of torque(with an over-boost function) making it the most powerful engine in its category. However, it is only available with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Fast SUVs in India -Nissan Magnite
The Magnite is the highest-selling Nissan car in India. There are many reasons why it deserves the top spot. Firstly, it gets a plethora of features like ambient lighting, a 360-degree camera, cruise control, JBL speakers, wireless charging, and more. Then, if we talk about its specifications, it is the reason why it’s on our fast SUVs list. It gets a 3-cylinder 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine making 98bhp and 160Nm of torque. This mill is coupled with a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT gearbox. The pricing of the Nissan Magnite turbo starts at Rs 9.73 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
The safest car in India also packs performance with its two-turbo petrol engines. Both these engines are quite capable but if you are stringent with the 15 lakh budget, the 1.0-litre TSi is the right choice for you. It puts off a 113bhp and 178Nm of torque which feels quick as well. Moreover, if you are a sedate driver then its mileage figures can definitely put a grin on ur face. Pricing of the Kushaq starts at Rs 13.62 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Fast SUVs in India -Mahindra XUV700
If you are comfortable with stretching your budget by 1.5 lakh from the 15 lakh barrier, the petrol XUV700 is ‘THE’ SUV you should get. Powering this SUV is a 2.0-litre turbo petrol churning out a massive 197bhp and 380Nm of torque. The power figures are exceptional for the entry-level MX 5-seater variant which is priced at Rs 16.12 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The unavailability of third-row seating, less tech and features would eventually result in reduced kerb weight of the car. So, this base variant with the mStallion petrol would be a delightful experience.
