Maruti has the largest CNG portfolio in the Indian car market. Recently, we saw 2 new CNG cars being launched (Baleno & XL6) that will be sold via the Next dealership. Unsurprisingly, Maruti has one more CNG car that is yet to be unveiled and its none other than the Maruti Brezza CNG. Today, new spy shots of the Brezza CNG have surfaced, hinting at an imminent launch. What all information do the spy shots reveal? We discuss everything in this article.

Brezza CNG -What to expect?

Brezza CNG

Maruti’s Brezza has already been a spot on product in the subcompact SUV segment. Now that its spotted with the factory fitted S-CNG option, it is likely to have a major plus point against its rivals like the Tata Nexon , Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet and more. These spy shots were uploaded by ‘Real Gaadi’ on their YouTube channel.

In the images, we can see that the overall exterior design is identical to the regular model. However, the major update being the CNG tank would take majority of the car’s 328-litres of bootspace. Other than this, this Brezza configuration is likely to get CNG telematics on the MID and CNG switch on the dashboard.

Brezza CNG – Specifications & Variants

Brezza CNG

Maruti will continue the Brezza CNG with its K15C 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. However, power figures could witness a drop of around 10bhp. So, we can expect it to make a power of around 89bhp in CNG mode. The chances of the Brezza CNG to get an automatic option seem very less as all other Maruti CNG cars are available with manual configuration only. However, some media reports in the past have hinted at an automatic Brezza CNG being a possibility. Will it turn into a reality? Only time will tell.

Also, if Maruti plans to bring the CNG with the automatic variants, the costs could go much higher considering the torque convertor AT is itself Rs 2 lakh costlier if we compare the current Brezza MT and AT variants. If we add the CNG costs of around Rs 90,000, this variant could be out of the reach of an average CNG car buyer.

Pricing & launch

Brezza CNG

The CNG variant has started reaching stockyards of various dealerships in India. This could only mean that we can expect a launch soon maybe in next month (Maruti has already launched 2 CNG cars this month). What about pricing? We can expect a premium of Rs 90,000 over the standard car for CNG equipment. Moreover, like other Maruti Arena cars, we can see the CNG addition in ‘VXi’ and ‘ZXi’ variants of the Brezza.
