The MPV segment traditionally has been ruled by Maruti and Toyota in our country. The Ertiga and Innova have stamped their authority in this segment. So it came as a surprise when Kia launched the Carens taking on the Ertiga and to some extent on Innova. However, the gamble has paid off well and now other manufacturers are also looking to enter this segment. One such manufacturer is Citroen which is working on an affordable MPV. In today’s article, let’s talk about this Rs 14 lakh car.

What has been confirmed?

About two to three months back, the Citroen MPV was spotted testing. The car was the C3 Aircross, a beefed-up version of the Citroen C3. But these spy shots showcased third-row seating with adjustable headrests. Other than that, the car did look quite proportionate with its muscular fenders and bigger tyres. Overall the car doesn’t look like an MPV, but rather a 7-seater SUV.

What else can we expect?

We expect the C3 Aircross to be better equipped than the C3 hatchback. Citroen could give it a more soft-touch material and different upholstery to increase its premiumness. What features can Citroen add? Citroen can add auto-dimming IRVM, alloy wheels, automatic climate control, electrically adjustable ORVMs and more. What about engine options? It could come with the 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine with an automatic gearbox option.

Rs 14 lakh car- Launch timeline

Citroen is trying to rapidly expand itself in the Indian market. It has launched the C3, which is pulling in decent numbers for the brand. So Citroen would be looking to continue this momentum. However, before the MPV Citroen is looking to launch the C3 EV. Considering all this, the C3 Aircross could see the light of day in the second half of 2023. Pricing-wise, it could start from Rs 14 lakh (ex-showroom).
