One such car segment that took the lion’s share in the contribution is ‘SUV’. This segment is gradually picking up pace as many buyers are loving the SUV characteristics like high ground clearance, rugged look, commanding driver position and more. So, here we are sharing the list of the top 10 SUVs in India.
Top SUV in India -Tata Nexon
Tata’s sub-compact SUV has regained its top position from the Maruti Brezza. The homegrown automaker has sold 13,767 units of the Nexon, making it the highest-selling SUV in India. Talking about the car, Tata has packed in plenty of features, petrol/ diesel engine options, and more. On the safety front, it gets a 5-star GNCAP safety rating with features like ESP, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX child anchors, etc. It starts at a price of Rs 8.95lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Hyundai Creta
Creta is Hyundai’s top-selling SUV which is now trying to take the top spot in the top10 selling cars sales chart. The Korean automaker has raked 11,880 units of the Creta last month. One thing to note is that it is a C-segment SUV taking on the second spot in this list. This shows the overall popularity and dominance of this car in its segment. It is priced at Rs 12.39lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Tata Punch
Another Tata car on the list is the ‘Punch’. This car revived the micro SUV segment with its nifty features and SUV perks. It also gives an amiable SUV experience with an affordable price tag, this is a salient reason why it is so successful. Tata has sold 10,982 units of the Punch last month making it the third highest-selling SUV in India.
Top SUV in India -Maruti Brezza
It is surreal to see that the car which was leading this list is now on the 4th spot. Maruti sold 15,445 units of the Brezza in September 2022. Kia Seltos
If we talk about the past month, sales of all Kia cars are under the 10,000 mark. It goes on against some established products like Hyundai Creta, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, etc.
Top SUV in India – Hyundai Venue
The Venue received a facelift update that got some new design elements and features. It also got the ‘N-Line’ variant addition for buyers who were looking for sporty trim in the car. Hyundai sold 9,585 units of the Venue which is less when we compare to September’s 11,033 units. Pricing of the Venue starts at Rs 8.84lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Mahindra Bolero
Mahindra’s highest-selling SUV is its old-school rugged Bolero. It sold 8,772 units of the Bolero last month which is more than its XUV700 and Scorpio-N. The Bolero is available with a single 1.5-litre diesel engine making 75 bhp and 210Nm of torque mated to a 5-speed transmission.
Top SUV in India – Maruti Grand Vitara
Being a new launch car, Maruti has already sold 8,052 units of the Grand Vitara. Available with mild and strong hybrid engine options, it is also the only car in its segment to get all-wheel drive. You also get the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder which is a sister car to this one priced similarly. The Grand Vitara is priced at Rs 12.28lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
Kia Sonet
The sub-compact SUV segment is raking high sales compared to any other segment. The sales of these cars are increasing gradually as we have over 8 options in this category. Talking about the Sonet in this category, it managed to sell 7,641 units last month.
Top SUV in India – Mahindra Scorpio-N and Classic
The Scorpio Classic and Scorpio-N have successfully gathered a sales figure of 7,438. As deliveries of the big daddy began in the previous month, we can now see that the Scorpio is amongst the top 10 selling SUVs in India. There are high chances that this number could increase as the Scorpio is a highly beloved car.
