With 2022 almost coming to an end and just a handful of launches pending for the year, everyone is curios to know about the cars that will be entering the market next year. Like every year, there will be multiple launches & unveils but in this article, we have picked top 5 cars that we will get to see in 2023. So without a delay, let’s begin.
Maruti Jimny
Maruti Jimny is one product that everyone has been eagerly waiting for in the country. The combination of a light-weight shell and impressive off-roading capability can get any off-road enthusiast’s blood pumping. The 3-door Jimny has time and again showcased its abilities and has proved its mettle in the markets where it is currently available. However, for India, Maruti needed to take a different route given the Indian buyer’s demand for value-for-money products.
For this, Maruti decided to ready the Jimny 5-door which we will soon get to see in India. This lifestyle SUV will most likely measure 3,850mm in length, 1645mm in width and 1730mm in height. The ground clearance will be 210mm with the wheelbase set to measure around 2550mm. Although the exact engine specifications are not confirmed, but multiple media reports have hinted at this off-roader coming with a 1.4-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Can it get the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine? Only time will tell.
The Jimny 5-door will come with 4X4 to complements its off-roading character. As far as the unveil is concerned, it is expected to happen during Auto Expo 2023 with a launch in the following months. Jimny will be the next car to be sold via the Nexa outlets.
Mahindra Thar 5-door
With everyone pumped for the Jimny 5-door, Mahindra to does not want to stay behind. After seeing the popularity for the 3-door Thar, the brand started working on the 5-door version of this lifestyle SUV. Although this SUV was long under wraps and was only a speculation, recent sightings have confirmed it being a reality. The Thar 5-door will borrow multiple elements from the 3-door version but will also come with its unique characteristics.
Talking about this lifestyle SUV, it will borrow its platform & a few other key elements from the Scorpio-N. It is expected to come with the Scorpio-N’s 2.0-litre petrol engine that is capable of making 200bhp & 370Nm(MT)/380Nm(AT) of torque. The diesel duties are expected to be handled by the 2.2-litre unit capable of producing 172bhp & 370Nm(MT)/400Nm(AT) of torque. Both the engines are expected to be mated to manual as well as automatic gearboxes. Like the 3-door version, the 5-door version is also expected to be offered with just 4X4 drivetrain. Pricing-wise, it is expected to be priced around Rs 20 lakh (on-road).
In terms of features, we expect it to see features like reverse parking camera, rear washer & wiper, defogger, etc. As far as launch is concerned, it is expected to unveil in the second-half of 2023.
Top 5 cars 2023 – Tata Curvv
Tata, after ruling the compact SUV segment is aiming to step foot in the C-SUV segment where players like Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq, etc. fight. The Curvv will be the product that will sit against the Creta. This SUV will be based on the brand’s Gen-2 architecture. Feature-wise, this SUV is expected to be loaded with features like ambient lighting, powered seats, a big touchscreen infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster, etc. Could ADAS be on offer? One interesting to note here is that this Tata SUV will come with EV as well as ICE variants with the electric variant being the priority. Its EV setup is expected to come with a large battery setup than the Nexon EV resulting in extra range. A range of somewhere between 400km to 500km (claimed) can be expected. As far as the Ice variants are concerned, Tata is expected to introduce a new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine. Will this SUV come with the 1.5-litre diesel engine keeping in mind the upcoming BS6 Stage 2 norms? Only time will tell. Tata will first launch the electric version followed by the ICE version. We expect it to see a launch sometime in the second-half of 2023.
Hyundai Punch rival
With more and more buyers opting for SUVs, multiple brands have started looking at more and more affordable options. Hyundai was long expected to bring an affordable SUV, technically a Tata Punch rival but nothing was concrete. However, the brand is now expected to launch its Punch rival in the second-half of next year. The Hyundai micro SUV will be based on the Grand i10 Nios’ platform and will most likely come powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that powers the Nios & the Aura. Could this engine undergo re-tuning? Only time will tell.
As far as features are concerned, we expect this one to come loaded with them given the fact that it will be a Hyundai car. A big touchscreen infotainment system, a semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car tech, premium sound system, etc. are some of the expected features. Pricing-wise, we expect it to start from somewhere around Rs 7 lakh (on-road).
