Ertiga buyers wait for this?
Maruti has solidified its name in the affordable MPV market with the Ertiga and XL6. On the other side, the Kia Carens is giving tough competition to these 7-seater with its modern-day features and varied powertrain options. This segment has had many brands going hammer and tongs with their potential MPVs. Talking about the upcoming year we could see a new MPV from a French automaker. We are talking about a new Citroen Ertiga rival car that is likely to launch at the end of 2023. Let’s have a closer look at it.
Ertiga rival car -Citroen MPV Design
Citroen has spied on testing its new MPV in India. From the spyshots, we can make out that it could be the Aircross version of the C3 but with an extra third row of seating. Sharing more elements with the C3, it could utilize the same ‘CMP’ platform seen on the Citroen C3. Talking about the exterior design, we can spot the muscular haunches along with some SUV characteristics like high ground clearance, body cladding, bold front look and more. Its overall design tends towards a 7-seater SUV rather than an MPV. This macho design could be a USP for this car as all the other rival cars have adopted a customary MPV design.
Ertiga rival car – Features
Features have already become a priority for a modern-day car buyer. With the Kia Carens offering the most features in the segment, Citroen has to load its MPV with plenty of them.
We can expect Citroen to increase its practicality by adding more storage places, rear charging ports, functional roof rails, etc. On the feature list, auto-dimming IRVM wireless charging, reverse parking camera, etc could be added.
Specifications
This MPV is likely to get the 1.2-litre turbo petrol unit that we have already seen in the C3. Considering the size and seating capacity of the car, this mill is only boiling out as the right choice due to its adequate power figures of 109bhp and 190Nm of torque. What about transmission? There are reports that insinuate Citroen is working on a 6-speed automatic torque converter gearbox. Do you think it could make its way into this car? Only time could tell. Or else, the 6-speed manual could be the only choice.

Citroen is back to the grindstone willing to upgrade its 2-car portfolio. Before this one, they are also planning to bring a new C3-based EV that could land in the affordable EV category.
Coming back to the launch of the C3 MPV, it is likely to be at the end of 2023. What about pricing? It could start around Rs 9-lakh (ex-showroom)
