Tata Motors has completely revamped itself and now maintains the 3rd position in the country’s automobile market. Leading back to the times when it was struggling to sell even half of its current sales figures, we are here talking about Tata threatening Hyundai for the 2nd spot. Though it has become the 2nd highest car seller for a handful of months, now it wants to maintain the same all year around. How is it possible? Of course by launching some enticing SUVs. Here we have 4 new Tata cars that could be showcased at the Auto Expo 2023 and then we could expect a proper launch.

Tata’s two flagship SUVs, the Safari and Harrier are bound to receive a facelift update. These cars are likely to get upgrades that would make them more in line against their rivals. We can expect features like a 360-degree parking camera, an updated infotainment system, rear disc brakes (standard), an air purifier, and more. The exterior design is also to be tweaked with new bumpers and a headlamp setup. It’s not just the facade but also the suspension touted to get updates. These new cars could be more capable on off-roads with this updated suspension setup. There are rumours about the addition of petrol engine that would eventually lower the starting prices of these cars. Can Tata bring petrol Harrier and Safari? Only time could tell.

Tata Altroz EV

Tata’s premium hatchback was earlier showcased in its EV avatar at the Auto Expo 2019. Later this car was lost in the winds with no official confirmation from the brand. Now, at the Auto Expo 2023, Tata might put a word regarding the launch of this car. The brand is forraying its EV plans at an increased pace by launching the Tiago EV. To even increase its penetration in the EV market, the Altroz EV would be the perfect EV for a premium hatchback buyer.

Talking about the car, it is likely to get the in-house Ziptron EV tech along with EV-specific design updates on the car. A 30.2kWh battery pack (from the Nexon EV Prime) that makes 127bhp & 245Nm of torque could be the powertrain option in this car. Moreover, the range figures should get a slight increase than the Nexon as this would be a lighter car than the former.

Tata cars January 2023 – Harrier EV

There are reports that Tata is working on a new Harrier-sized EV that could make its way as early as 2023. According to reports, this new car is codenamed ‘Eturna’ which is already undergoing tests in the factory. It has entered the ‘Alpha’ testing phase, which gives us a hunch regarding its battery pack. The battery pack is likely to get beefier with a claimed range of about 500kms to prove adequate for this mid-size SUV. In terms of features and design, we expect it could adapt some elements from the ICE Harrier but with EV-specific bits.

What about pricing of the Harrier EV? As EVs attract a minimal 5% of tax when compared to fossil fuel cars, Tata could price it aggressively. If the pricing is spot on alongwith a good real-world range, this car can captivate many ICE Harrier buyers towards this new EV. Would you buy a diesel Harrier or a Harrier EV?
