Creta enjoys a monopoly in the C-SUV segment even if it competes against some capable SUV rivals. Hyundai banks heavily on the Creta supporting the fact that it is the highest-selling Hyundai car in India. However, with the increasing heat in this segment, many manufacturers are breaking new grounds. One such brand is Nissan which has completely turned over a new leaf by showcasing 3 new SUVs today.  One of them is a serious Creta competition SUV which could give it a tough time. Let’s know more about Nissan Juke, a potential Creta rival!

Nissan’s India plan

Nissan Juke

Nissan India has gone all out by unveiling 3 new SUVs for the Indian market. However, nothing is confirmed yet regarding the launch date of the Juke. Why do you ask? The Japanese automaker has already begun testing the other two SUVs- Qashqai and X-Trail but in Juke’s case, it’s not started yet. The brand would conduct an analysis identifying the trends in the market. Only then we can expect a proper launch. Its potential Creta rival car is likely to offer new features and a hybrid powertrain, however, it completely depends on how feasible the market condition is. Such factors would provide assurance to Nissan whether to bring their Juke to Indian shores.

Nissan Juke -Design

Nissan Juke

Nissan Juke is based on the modular CMF-B platform which also underpins other Nissan and Renault cars. Talking about its design, the car looks muscular with flared rear haunches, tampering roof lines, body cladding, and more. Also, it gets some sporty elements like sharp LED DRLs, split headlamp setup, C-pillar mounted rear door handle, dual-tone roof, and more. The design is a great combination that offers a bold road presence with some sporty styling. Talking about its dimensions, it measures 4,210mm in length, 1,800mm in width, 1,595mm in height and has a wheelbase of 2,636mm.

Specifications

Nissan Juke

Nissan Juke is available with two powertrain options. The first is a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine that makes 115bhp and 200Nm of torque with overboost functionality. Transmission options coupled to this motor are a 6-Speed Manual or a DCT automatic gearbox. We also have a hybrid powertrain setup which is likely to use a 4-cylinder petrol engine making 143bhp achieved in conjunction with a battery-powered motor.

Nissan Juke -Features

Nissan Juke

In terms of features, the global model gets plenty of them. However, how many of them make their way to India is the question. As the Juke could be the last launch among the 3 new SUVs, the feature list is not yet confirmed. The global car gets ADAS safety tech, 6 airbags as standard, a 360-degree parking camera, a premium BOSE sound system, a floating 8-inch infotainment system, and more.

Nissan Juke -Launch and Pricing

Nissan Juke

As aforementioned, the launch of the Juke is not yet confirmed. Considering its equipment list and fellow rivals in India, the pricing should start around Rs 10 to 12lakh (ex-showroom) if it wants to get a hold in this segment. This segment has some established products like the Kia Seltos, Hyundai Creta, Maruti Grand Vitara and more. If Nissan wants to get a stronghold against these, it has to offer a VFM proposition.
