Is Maruti Jimny really that small in real-life?
The Jimny is one car that has hogged all headlines in recent times. It’s like everyone is waiting for Maruti to launch the Jimny in India. We have obtained new spy shots of the Jimny that show its size in comparison with one of its main rivals, the Mahindra Thar. The new spy shots of Jimny were posted on the Instagram page of ‘the_reels_news’. These spy shots have been taken from a Thar, giving us relevant insight about the size of the Jimny. What does it reveal? The Jimny looks quite tiny in comparison to the Thar. For better context, Jimny’s size is more in line with the WagonR standing next to it. Other than that, we can see the rear of the Jimny which is identical to the 3-door Jimny. Also, we can spot the blacked out alloy wheel design from the rear mounted spare tyre.

Expectations
Even though the Jimny looks small compared to Thar, it could still pack a punch to take on the Thar. According to reports, Maruti could bring a six-seater and a seven-seater option on the Jimny 5-door. What specifications can we expect? The Jimny 5-door could mostly come with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine on the higher variants and a 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated engine on the lower variants. Unsurprisingly, this SUV will come with 4×4 capabilities. However, Maruti could also offer a 4×2 version on the lower variants to keep starting price low.
Maruti Jimny dimensions – Launch timeline
According to rumours, Jimny could be launched in the first half of 2023, most probably around the Auto Expo of 2023. The launch may happen a few months after the event. As for the Jimny 5-door, it will be sold through Maruti’s premium Nexa dealerships.
