Nissan India is managing to stay afloat in the cut-throat Indian market. Its sub-four-metre compact SUV, the Magnite is its highest-selling product with a monthly sales figure of 3,069 units in September’22. Undoubtedly, the Japanese carmaker has high hopes for its compact SUV and plans to keep it afresh. The Indian market demands a facelift model for staying in line with the competition. When could the Nissan Magnite facelift launch? What to expect in it? We answer it below.

Nissan Magnite facelift – Design & Exterior

Nissan Magnite facelift

Nissan launched the Magnite in India in December 2020. Fast forward to 2022, when the competition has grown fierce in terms of features and technology, the brand has to give the Magnite the extra oomph. In terms of design and styling, Magnite does maintain its SUV characteristics with a contemporary pattern. What could change in the facelift? We can expect some subtle changes in the facelift model like tweaked bumpers, lighting changes and a new design for the alloy wheels.

Features & Powertrain

Nissan Magnite facelift

The Magnite is one of the most loaded cars in its segment and also the early bird to come with features like a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, digital instrument cluster, wireless charging, etc. It already comes with a lot of features and now the list could only be upgraded. The facelift model can get a sunroof, auto-dimming IRVM, and more. One area where Nissan could focus is on uplifting the quality of materials used in the cabin. Cost-cutting is understandable, but it would really be cherry-on-the-top if Nissan manages to improve this aspect.

The platform of this car is made under the partnership of Nissan and Renault, known as the CMF-A architecture. This platform also underpins other Renault cars like the Kiger and Triber. Talking about the powertrain options, it would mostly continue to get the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine (71bhp & 96Nm of torque) mated to a 5-speed manual only. Another option is the fierce 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine (99bhp & 160Nm of torque) that comes mated either to a 5-speed manual or a CVT automatic transmission. It already has one of the best-performing engines and being a midlife facelift update, there are minimal chances the Nissan could change anything under the hood.

Nissan Magnite facelift – Launch

Nissan Magnite facelift

There is no official confirmation from the brand yet regarding its launch. The Magnite facelift is actually due and Nissan should consider bringing it soon. If the brand launches it with the aforementioned upgrades, this car could actually become a perfect balance of performance, features, and driveability.  However, the brand has to update its service network and dealerships to further enhance accessibility for buyers. Apart from this, it’s the pricing where the Magnite shines. If the pricing is kept in check for the facelift, many buyers could start considering it over the monopoly rivals like the Tata Nexon, Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, and more.
