Tata has been soaring high in the electric space in India. The brand’s Nexon EV & Tigor EV have helped maintain the lead for quite some time now. Tata’s strategy with the Nexon EV did wonders for the brand. SUVs have been luring buyers and an electric SUV was just the perfect start that buyers needed while making the shift to EV. Now, Tata wants to deepen its penetration in the EV pool, and for that, the best thing to do would be to bring an affordable electric car. This will help them make EV more accessible to more buyers. This is exactly what the Tiago EV is set to do in the market. Tata recently teased new features of the upcoming Tiago EV that will enhance its premium quotient. What is this feature? That is exactly what we discuss in this article.

The Tiago EV will be the first, proper electric hatchback to see a launch in the country. This is definitely expected to give the brand a major push to its lead, since the concept of an affordable EV is quite lucrative in the country. Specification-wise, it is expected to borrow its mechanical bits from the Tigor EV. This means that the electric hatchback would most likely come powered by Tata’s Ziptron Technology, housing in a 26kWh liquid-cooled, high energy density battery pack, capable of producing 74bhp & 170Nm of torque. Range figures could fall around the 306km mark (claimed). However, Tata Tiago’s smaller boot, as compared to the Tigor EV, could hinder with the size of the battery pack.

Feature-wise, it is expected to come with a semi-digital instrument cluster, premium Harman sound system, D-cut steering wheel, etc.

Tata is said to launch the Tiago EV on the 28th of September. As far as pricing is concerned, this electric hatchback could start from somewhere between Rs 10 lakh to Rs 11 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect Tata to offer the same warranty package that it offers with its other EVs. This means that an 8-year/1,60,000km warranty cover for the battery pack will most likely be on offer.
