Affordable Maruti SUV spotted again!
SUVs are the new rage in the Indian market. Everyone wants to buy an SUV for the practicality they offer. Even Maruti recently acknowledged that it needs to bring more SUVs in the coming time. It has already unveiled the Grand Vitara and is also working on the Jimny 5-door. However, there is another special SUV that Maruti is working on. This SUV is the Baleno Cross, and new spy shots of the car have surfaced online. In today’s article, let’s talk about this affordable Maruti SUV along with what information the spy shots reveal.
What’s spotted?
The new spy shots were uploaded by Rajni Chaudhary on her Youtube channel. It is easy to figure out this is the Baleno Cross from the overall silhouette. In the spy shots, we can see the Grand Vitara-styled DRL and grille design. We can also spot the sloping bonnet, roof rails and bumper-integrated in the bumper. Other than that, we can spot the alloy wheel design similar to the Baleno hatchback. In the side profile, we can see the tampering roof and higher ground clearance.

The Baleno Cross is a beefed version of the Baleno. It will increase the practicality of the Baleno due to its higher ground clearance and SUV-like characteristics. What about its specifications? The Baleno Cross will be based on the Heartect platform. According to a media report, it could get the 1.0-litre Booster Jet engine capable of producing 100bhp & 150Nm of torque. Maruti wants to use this engine to give the Baleno Cross a sporty appeal. Will it get hybrid technology? Considering Maruti’s push for hybrid technology, we can expect a mild-hybrid setup. A Toyota iteration of the Baleno Cross is also expected.
Affordable Maruti SUV – Launch timeline
Of late, the Baleno Cross has been spotted several times. This could mean that Maruti is in the final stages of development. According to media reports, Maruti plans to unveil the Baleno Cross at the Auto Expo of 2023. What about the launch? The launch may happen a few months after the unveiling. Maruti will be selling the Baleno Cross through its premium Nexa dealerships.
