The American Jeep has always been an iconic brand in India. Flashback to the times when it made raw offroaders, it carries a long history of introducing offroad vehicles to the world. Coming to the present times, it has transformed itself into a luxury brand while keeping strong its rugged offroad roots. New affordable Jeep SUV – Design

New affordable Jeep SUV

Jeep is testing new grounds with this upcoming SUV. It has been confirmed that it would be a smaller car than the Compass. Today, Jeep has confirmed that it will be called the Avenger. The spy shots of the car reveal some adoptions from the Citroen C3. Both Jeep & Citroen fall under the same PSA group, so this SUV would be based on the C3’s e-CMP platform. The spied car seems to carry similar dimensions as that of the C3, but looks sleeker and longer compared to its sister mass-market car. Jeep could tweak its new SUV as per its design language. In addition, the spy shots also reveal that it would carry traditional Jeep styling. It will get seven slat grille in between the rectangular-shaped headlamps. Other than that, the overall look would maintain a utilitarian look to justify the Jeep moniker.

There is no official word from the brand regarding its powertrain options, but we expect it to get 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine from Citroen. In addition to the engine, this Jeep could also get a battery pack to channel power to the rear wheels. This way, the engine powers the front wheels and a motor propels the rear wheels. This technology is called the 4xe system in Jeep language which replicates the traditional 4×4 system. There are high chances it could make its way in the new Jeep SUV as it provides a balance of hybrid and 4×4 drivetrain. All-in-all, this SUV could come with with hybrid and pure-petrol engine options. Moreover, an EV variant could also be a possibility in the future, considering Citroen’s plans to bring an EV next year.
