The premium hatchback segment is dominated by the most prominent car maker in the country. Maruti’s Baleno is the second highest-selling car in the country that rules the above-mentioned segment. Available in the second-gen avatar, the updated Baleno has become second to none with all the latest tech and gizmos. As of today, when Baleno is already enjoying success, Maruti is rolling up its sleeves to bring a more beefed-up version of the Baleno. Maruti is working on a new crossover based on the Baleno, codenamed ‘YTB’. Maruti is touted to call it the Baleno Cross in the market. So, here are top 3 things you must know about the Maruti Baleno Cross.
Maruti Baleno Cross – Design
The YTB is deriving a coupe design from the Futuro E-Concept car that was unveiled at the Auto Expo 2020. The car has a tall stance and will come with Grand Vitara-inspired headlamps, giving it a notable similarity to the mid-size SUV. Moreover, it maintains the overall silhouette of the Baleno. All-in-all, the Baleno Cross is expected to be a premium-looking crossover with a conflated design of an SUV and a hatchback. The spied car also has a higher ground clearance and will possibly come with a body cladding to enhance the SUV nature.
Maruti Baleno Cross – Engine
Like its design, the powerhouse of the car is also expected to pack some amount of excitement. The new YTB is likely to bring back the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine from the Baleno RS. Launch & Pricing
The car has been spotted many times in camouflaged appearance. Maruti will definitely be looking to test the car extensively to fill any defaults in drive-ability and ride comfort. From the spy shots that have emerged till date, the car seems to be in its last leg of development. If reports are to be believed, Maruti will be unveiling this crossover coupe SUV at the Auto Expo 2023. An official launch is expected to happen in the months following, most likely February 2023. The Maruti Baleno Cross will be sold via the Nexa premium dealerships.
