The EV segment is still in its nascent stage in our market. Only a few manufacturers have shown the guts to enter this space till now. Tata is one of these manufacturers that has profound success in the EV segment. However, Tata will soon be facing competition from a global manufacturer that is known for its electric vehicles. No, we are not talking about Tesla, but rather BYD. Currently, BYD is the largest EV manufacturer by volume in the world (considering hybrids and battery electric vehicles). It already has its presence in India with e6 MPV. However, now BYD is looking to hit the mainstream EV market here. In today’s article, let’s talk about the BYD Atto 3 and how it has the potential to become the biggest rival to the Tata Nexon EV in India.

BYD has big ambitions for the Indian market. It wants to launch a sleeve of EVs in the Indian market. The first mass-market car from BYD in India will be the Atto 3 SUV. The BYD Atto 3 will first come through the CKD route. Based on the response, the company will consider setting up a manufacturing plant in India. According to reports, BYD will also be taking part in the Auto Expo of 2023 to showcase its product to Indian buyers. It will be displaying a range of products including sedans, hatchbacks and SUVs. BYD has a sales target of selling 10,000 EVs in the next two years.

The Atto 3 comes with a sleek and futuristic-looking design. At the front, we have sharp-looking headlamps and a small grille. It is as if the car has a smile on its face. Coming to the side profile, we have a few curvy bits that give it a uniform look which is not too flashy yet not too bland. Overall, the car looks well proportionate from the side. What about the rear? The rear carries forward that futuristic aspect with a connected tail lamp design.
