Renault created a buzz in the market when it launched the Duster in 2012. The company kickstarted the C-SUV segment and the rest is history. Many buyers were captivated by the Duster which further led to other famous names entering the segment. The car got loved for its rugged looks and capabilities. The car enjoyed a good number of sales when it was launched, but in the present day when the competition is on the hot side, Duster fell far behind and hence had to be discontinued. However, there are media reports indicating that the new Renault Duster for India is in the works. So, what all is this iconic SUV planning to offer in its new avatar? What is coming?
The outselling car was just given a few facelifts to keep up with the demands of buyers, and as expected, Renault had to pull the strings off due to the underwhelming response. The brand pulled the Duster for a very long duration without giving it a major generation update. Renault is however planning to bring the 3rd-generation Duster to the Indian market. The second-generation SUV will altogether be skipped.
The exact launch timeline is not yet confirmed but we can expect it in the coming few years. The new-generation vehicle is touted to be more advanced in & out and could be a potential rival to the established products like Hyundai Creta & Kia Seltos. The new car would be based on the CMF-B architecture that is versatile for MHEV, HEV, PHEV, and BEV powertrains. In the Indian market, the car could get 4×4 powertrain options along with a hybrid setup.
New Renault Duster – Design & Features
The official design language is not out yet, however there are some renders that are available online. The car is thus expected to maintain its macho design with flared wheel arches. There are reports that indicate that the new Duster will take design inspiration from the Dacia Bigster concept. The car is also touted to get bigger alloy wheels, LED headlamps, and more new-age features. It could also retain roof rails to enhance the utilitarian look. Feature-wise, the car could be loaded with six airbags, rear AC vents, a big infotainment system, connected car tech, wireless charging, and more.
New Renault Duster – Specifications & Launch
The third-generation Duster has been under development by Renault. The car is expected for a global unveil somewhere around 2023-2024. Currently, the Renault-Nissan group has the 1.3-litre turbo-petrol engine which did power the Duster in India. However, what strategy does the brand follow for the upcoming Duster is still unknown. So, nothing concrete can be said about the engine specification. However, we can mostly expect a powerful turbo engine to be on offer. The possibility of a diesel engine coming is nil to very low. Along with a turbo-petrol engine, hybrid powertrain options and an EV could also be on the cards.
