India’s SUV king, Mahindra has laid concrete footsteps in today’s car scene. Now, with the unveiling of Born Electric concepts, Mahindra has showcased global standards of technology for its future plans. However, this doesn’t mean that they are lacking any behind from their base of rugged SUVs. With the launch of the Scorpio-N and retaining the Classic Scorpio for the buyers there is something for everyone. But what about the Bolero? Mahindra is looking to extend the Bolero lineup with this 9-seater SUV. A larger version of the Bolero Neo could be on offer for bigger families who are looking for an affordable big car. Essentially to be practical and a comfortable people mover, it would be an updated version of the discontinued TUV 300 Plus. The new SUV is to be based on the ladder frame for a sturdy and easy-to-maintain ownership experience.

The design of the car would remain identical to the TUV300 Plus. Retaining the boxy design language and bold front fascia, this Mahindra would look dominating on roads like its other siblings. The new updated car could have some new bits here and there to accentuate the look. With the ‘Twin Peaks’ logo at the front, the Neo Plus could get an updated grille design and a new alloy wheel design. Measuring 400mm long and 40mm wide than the regular Bolero Neo, this car would be spacious on the inside.

The front dashboard design is not changed but kept like the Bolero Neo. We could get some new door panel designs and other minute changes to differentiate from the Neo. Other than that the more prominent change would be the addition of two front-facing bench seats in the third row. Coming on the creature feature list it would have a 7.0-inch infotainment system, keyless entry, voice control, all power windows, and more.

Mahindra will bring the Bolero Neo Plus in a single engine option only. It will get the 2.2-litre mHaWk diesel engine generating 118bhp of power and 280Nm of torque. Gearbox options would only be limited to a single 6-speed manual. Additionally, to increase the ride quality and offroad capability it could get MTT (Multi Terrain Technology).

Launch and pricing

The Bolero Neo Plus is expected to be launched in 4 variants- N4, N8, N10, and N10 (O). It could be priced around Rs. 11lakh to Rs.14 lakh (on-road Mumbai). Mahindra could unveil the car at the Auto Expo 2023, whereas we can expect a proper launch later in the upcoming year.
