Before seeing new electric products, let’s discuss Tata’s existing lineup. Tata’s first electric product in the EV segment was Nexon EV, followed by the Tigor EV. The Nexon EV is the best-selling EV in India, clearly highlighting its popularity. Earlier this year, Tata launched the Nexon EV Max, a long-range version of the Nexon EV. To differentiate, Tata has changed the name of Nexon EV to Nexon EV Prime. All-in-all, the brand’s EV lineup today consists of Tata Nexon EV Prime, Nexon EV Max and Tigor EV.

The remaining six products

Now let’s talk one by one about the upcoming six products and their launch timelines.

Like other Tata ICE cars, the Punch could also get the EV treatment in the future. How, you ask? Because it is based on the ALFA-Arc platform, the same that underpins the Altroz and will also underpin the Altroz EV. The Punch EV has never been showcased, but it’s said to be in the works. What about its specifications? It could share its specifications with the Nexon EV Prime. So, it could get a 127bhp motor paired to a 30.2 kWh battery pack. It is expected to be launched sometime in 2024.

Tata Motors is re-engineering the platform around the battery pack to avoid any compromises. What will it look like? Tata will try to retain as many elements as possible from the Curvv concept. So we can expect a coupe-like design. In terms of specifications, it will come with EV and ICE options. The Curvv EV is expected to be launched sometime in 2024.

Avinya EV
